December 17, 2010 Wisconsin Winter's Wishlist

December 17m 2010,

I wish the sun would come out and then when it does the tempetures drop because we have high air presure.  Soon we are saying I wish it would warm up., It does and then on to I wish the snow would stop.

Looking through the bare branches of a white crab apple tree below deck.

I love winter.   We have drifts 4 ft high, the horses pastures had to be snowblowed so they could get out of the stable and this past week we faced below 0 degrees more days then I want to remember.  Horses had to stay in because they are old and the wind chill was said to be in the low 12-13 degrees below 0.  Why don't we have wind chill in the summer.  I could use it then when my brow is sweating and the tempetures bring me high 80's and 90's.

It is too cold for even the birds to be out and about
except for a few hardy winter birds in Wisconsin
that feed on Sunflower seeds.

For some reason I could not get into it with my old password so continue on in my new blog......   hope this does not confuse you too much....

It is actually January 16,2011 as I write this .....

weather has not changed much snow has melted, few snow storms passed by and I spent a lot of days inside doing what I love quilting, writing, working around the horses, and now our new puppy Luke Skywalker an Airedale we bought just before Christmas.

Luke playing with his favorite toy

Luke is now 2 1/2 months and almost twice the size of the above picture.  It has been a new learning experience!  We have Gilly another airedale dog who is 8 years old now.  We forgot her puppy days, so learning all over how to train a puppy has brought so much laughter, joy and yes.....a few miner stress moments.  A training video we got from the well known breeder Joanne Vohs has helped tremendously. Watching it numerous times has helped us get Luke over countless hurdles.  We bought our Gilly the 8 year old Airedale from Joanne Vohs too.  She has been such a great help in understanding the beloved Airedale's unique temperment.  If you look into the link I included above  http://withinnature-chickens-horses.blogspot.com/2009/12/in-wisconsin-winter-has-arrived.html but look in the December 2010 post you will see lots of information about Joanne Vohs.

I hope this clears up why I havn't wrote my blog for awhile.  Put the new one in your favorites so you will find me.....
